**You will need a computer with the Notepad program or a Chromebook with a text editor such as this Text Chrome app and a barcode scanner
**When using this process with items that have a component assigned to them (laptops have chargers set as components), the component will be included in the check out process. If you don't want the component to be included during this process, you will need to check out that item to the student individually, not through this bulk load process.
Creating the File to be uploaded
Create a text file (.txt) with the Follett Command code on the first line, the student number on the next line and then the barcode of the item on the next line. Repeat this sequence, making sure there are not any extra spaces on each line. The extra spaces will cause errors in Follett.
The file can only contain items from 1 building.
Resource Checkout File
In the file, scan the barcode from below, on the next line scan the student id number, on the next line, scan the item barcode

Repeat this process of scanning the command code, student id, and device barcode (each on separate lines) until you have scanned all of the items you need to be assigned. In most cases the enter command is already programmed into the scanner that you will be using, if it is not, you will need to press the Enter key on your keyboard
Library Checkout File

In most cases the enter command is already programmed into the scanner that you will be using, if it is not, you will need to press the Enter key on your keyboard

Below is an example of the file

Uploading the File to Follett Destiny
Log into Follett Destiny and go to the building that you want to check in items
Select Circulation from the blue top menu bar and then select Offline Circulation from the left panel menu (last menu item in the list)
You can change the Transaction date to a different date
Change the Make Check Out Due field to the date that you want the item to be checked in.
Choose the file that you created from above
I normally leave the checkbox in the image below unchecked because I like seeing all the transactions go through. If the checkbox is checked, you will only see errors and warnings. For troubleshooting purposes, it is easier to see all transactions.
Select the Upload Scans button

You will be taken to the Job Manager page. Here you can see when the job has been completed
You will want to select the View link in the far-right column to verify that all items were checked out successfully

The Job Summary will show all the transactions. If there are errors or warnings, you can scroll through the list to see them so you can go back and troubleshoot
