How to Upgrade Chrome OS on Your Chromebook
Summary
A step by step walkthrough of updating your Chrome OS device.
Body
Click on the clock in the Chrome OS Shelf (similar to the Taskbar in Windows or the Dock on a Mac). This is usually found in the lower right corner of the screen. This brings up the Tray where the settings button can be found.
Click on the Gear icon at the top of the Tray to open the Settings menu.
Click on the About Chrome OS link at the bottom of the Settings menu along the left side of the window.
Chrome OS will download and install updates automatically. It only applies the update on a restart.
If an update has been applied and is waiting for a reboot, you will see a line that reads, "Nearly up to date! Restart your device to finish updating." Click the Restart button to the right of that after you have made sure you have no unsaved work. This will restart the computer and apply the update.
If an update hasn't been downloaded automatically, you will see a Check For Updates button to the right of the version number. Click that button and it will download and install the most recent update if there is one. After installation, the button changes to a Restart button. Make sure your files are saved and then click the restart button.
If you have the most current version of Chrome OS, above the version it will state that Your Chromebook Is Up To Date.
