Troubleshooting
Steps taken to resolve the problem.
- Logged in as the student and was presented with access denied messages on all open Chrome Tabs.
- Closed all windows and opened a new Chrome Tab
- Accessed Clever and selected Canvas.
- When Canvas loaded, I was presented with the error message originally reported by the student, Access Denied.
- Selected the Dashboard Icon and was presented with class cards - Canvas is operating normally.
- Rebooted the device and tried it again with the same results. Accessing Canvas displays an Access Denied message whenever the student first accesses Canvas. However, selecting the Dashboard icon displays the dashboard where the student can select class cards.
- The initial access to Canvas is trying to load a course module, which the student no longer has access to.
- While on the Canvas page, selected the padlock icon in the address bar and selected Cookies.
- Cleared all cookies related to Canvas/Instructure.
- Now when the page is loaded, it defaults to the Canvas Dashboard instead of the module the student no longer has access to.
- Rebooted the device and repeated the process with success.
Not sure how or why the default page was set to the module. The student likely lost access to the module once it had been marked as completed by the teacher.
