Delta Math Creating Classes

Overview:

Teachers need to create and roster their classes in Delta Math. These directions explain how this is done.

Reference the Delta Math website for more details

Part 1: How to Create Your Classes

  1. Log In and Navigate: Once you are logged into your DeltaMath teacher account, look at the top menu bar. Click on Tools, and then select Manage Students and Classes from the dropdown menu.

  2. Add a Class: Click the "Add New Class" button.

    • Note: Depending on your display settings, this button might say "Period" or "Sections" instead, but it performs the exact same function!

  3. Name Your Class: Type in a clear, recognizable name for your class (for example: Algebra 1 - 2nd Period).

  4. Confirm: Click "Confirm Add" to save your changes.

Once your class is created, it will appear in your master list. You will instantly see the class name, the number of students currently enrolled (which will start at 0), and a unique 8-character Class Code. You can repeat this process to add as many classes as you teach!

Tip: If you ever make a typo or need to rename a class later, just click the small edit icon right next to the class name to update it.

Part 2: How to Register Your Students

There are two simple ways to invite students to join your newly created class.

Option 1: Share a Direct Registration Link (Recommended)

This is the easiest route for students because it eliminates the risk of typos!

  1. On your Manage Students and Classes page, find the class you want to share and click the Link/Copy icon next to it.

  2. This automatically copies a unique web link to your computer's clipboard.

  3. Paste and share this link with your students (via email, your Canvas course shell, or your classroom website). When students click this link, it takes them straight to the DeltaMath registration page with your specific Class Code already filled in for them!

Option 2: Share Your Class Code

  1. Locate the 8-character alpha-numeric Class Code listed next to your class name.

  2. Share this code with your students (you can write it on the board or include it in your syllabus).

  3. Instruct students to go to the DeltaMath website, choose the option to register, and type in your code manually to join.

Part 3: Handling Existing Student Accounts

It is very common for students to already have a DeltaMath account from a previous grade level or a different math class. Here is what you and your students need to know:

  • The "Existing Account" Error: If a student tries to register as a brand-new user but their school email is already attached to an older account, DeltaMath will display an error message.

  • The Easy Fix: The student does not need to create a new account. They simply need to log into their existing account. As soon as they log in using your registration link—or enter your Class Code within their existing account settings—they will automatically be added to your new class list.

  • Good to Know: Students can belong to more than one class at a time. They cannot manually delete themselves from past classes, so they might still see older classes on their dashboard, which is completely normal and won't impact your class.

  • Forgot Password? If a student is locked out of their old account and can't remember their password, they can utilize the "Forgot Password" link on the login page to reset it.
