Overview:
Target audience: Teachers or anyone assigned to Courses in Canvas. This article explains how to cross-list or merge multiple Canvas courses into a single course. Cross-listing in Canvas combines multiple courses into one main course. All students are enrolled in that main course, and all content is managed in one place. Teachers can still view and grade students by section while only maintaining a single course.
Cross-Listing a Canvas Course
Let's say you have two courses (Course A and Course B) and want to cross-list them so that all content flows through Course A.
To do this:
- Write down the course number for Course A.
- Log in to Course B.
- Click Settings from the left panel menu and then click the Sections tab.
- Below the Add a New Section box, click the section of the course you are currently in.
- On the next screen, click Cross-List this Section on the far right of the screen.
- In the Search for Course menu, enter the course number for Course A you previously wrote down.
- Select the correct course to cross-list into.
- Click Cross-List This Section.
- Repeat steps 3 through 8 for cross-listing additional courses
